UPDATE! (May 18th)…It’s been awhile.

Good lord…it’s been awhile since I wrote on here. But instead of apologizing, I’m just going to update you guys on the projects I’m working on! First off, LEON! Leon is a new web show I’m spearheading. It’s a comedic show based around our main character, Leon. We’re hoping to get 9 episodes done for “season 01”, which will take place start May 21st, and continuing over the Summer. You’ll be able to watch episode 01 starting Monday, May 21st on YouTube.com/GarlandFilm! So, check that out. Other than that, I have more music videos in the works that I can count. 3 big ones are for The Town Heroes, who I’ve worked with on their video Slag Heaps, and the upcoming New York City video. We have some really epic shoots planned with these music videos, and I’m so excited to get these shots and edited. I’m currently editing the New York City video now, and that will hopefully be hitting the world wide webs very soon! I’m also working on some scripts for short films. I’ve said that I want to try and get 7 short films out before the year is over, and I want two of those to be something amazing. I’ve got some stories laid out that I’m very happy with, and that are ambitious enough to create the challenge I need to go ahead with them. I’m also working with a current student at the Centre for Arts and Technology in Halifax on a short film she is writing now. She described the story to me and I loved it, so we’re hoping to get that going for maybe this Summer, or later this Fall. Speaking of the Centre for Arts, I’ve got a project I’m doing for the school. It’s a few promotional videos that they want made, and I was lucky enough to be contacted for the job! The best part, I’m headed to Fredericton for 3 days to shoot, and then to Kelowna, BC to 5 days to shoot! I love travelling for shoots, and this has me travelling twice in a short period of time and I couldn’t be happier! Well, that’s it for now. I’ll try and make my blog posts a bit more frequent, but until next time, thanks for reading and have a good night!

“Luke” is accepted into the Bootleg Film Festival!

I’m very excited to say that a film I did cinematography for is hitting the Bootleg Film Festival in Toronto this May! The film was written and directed by Daniel Barlett. I am so happy I had the chance to work on this. In all honesty, it’s my favorite thing that I’ve shot. i was very proud about the work I did on this, and I’m so proud that it’ll get to be seen in Toronto! Check out some behind the scenes of the film in the links below! Congrats to Daniel and the rest of the “Luke” team!

“The Sister” is complete! (A thank you; Part 3)

Like I said in my previous “The Sister” vlog, time is key in filmmaking. Without a schedule, we wouldn’t have a clear view of what we’re doing and when each day of production. Our 2nd Assistant Director, who wrote up all of our call sheets, was Tim Barnett. He made sure we had the information needed to make it through the day and on time. He was amazing at his job, to say the least! Another key thing in filmmaking is support and belief in the project. Our executive producers embodied that, and wanted this film to get made. Leon Harrington has been, and continues to be, supportive of the film. He helped out in so many ways. In all honesty, he made a lot of the production possible. Thor Henrikson and Ashley King were also executive producers to the project. Ashley was so supportive from the start and throughout the editing process. Thor was the same. He was also the script supervisor for the project. The biggest kick of motivation I had before shooting the project was something Thor has said after reading the script for the first time; “the whole time reading this I just thought how I can help you make this”. He doesn’t know this, but that was the driving force to me really making this production amazing. I cannot thank him enough. Sandy Garland-Brannen was an executive producer as well. She is my mother, and is always supportive of what I’m doing, but she came out of her way to make things happen on set. She drove, picked up food, paid for some production costs, and came 3 hours from her home to bring her daughter and my sister, Carley Brannen, to act in the film. Mom really wants to be my manager someday but I don’t think she realizes that she already is in a way, and I’m very happy about that. Well, I know I said I’d only make 3 of these, but there is just too many people to thank. I’m going to have to do 2 more. So, check back soon for Part 4 and Part 5!

The Monday vlog! About sharks, dreams, stingrays, fashion shows, and I’m sick. Woot!
