Since his start in 2006, Dillon Garland has been embedded into filmmaking. He began his career by creating realistic comedies, similar to Jackass, with his buddies in his hometown of Barrington, Nova Scotia and has moved on to tell amazing stories through visual storytelling.
In 2008, he had his first industry experience, being a production assistant on Halifax filmmaker, Paul Kimball’s, vampire flick, “Eternal Kiss”.
2009 was a big year as Dillon created a industry video for Wilson’s Home Hardware, that went on to win a Canada wide contest within Home Hardware stores.
In 2010, he took his interest in film a step further, starting the filmmaking program at the Centre for Arts and Technology in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In 2011, he managed to reach a new step with his music videos “The Student Poverty Song”, and “See You In September”, which have reached over 50 thousand hits on YouTube. He also directed, produced, and wrote for the web series, “24 Frames Later”. He also had the opportunity to shoot his 3rd music video in New York City, for the Halifax band, The Town Heroes.
Now, in 2012, a newly graduated Dillon is taking up opportunities left and right. Working with TV shows like Canada’s Got Talent, appearing on the TV show “Mr. D”, and directing his own films. His short film “The Sister” is set to hit the film festival circuit very soon. Along with these projects, Dillon is working on various projects from short films, lip dubs, videos for the internet, television, and even live theatre.
