Alan Rickman for Best Supporting Actor

The 84th Academy Awards are in 44 days. The nominations, are in 11. I never get caught up in the Oscar’s. I’ll usually watch the show, sure, but I never take time to actually look into nominations and everything that goes with the lead up to the show. This year, it’s different. I’ve found myself embedded to watching everything from predictions, to twitter feeds, and everything in between. Why? Well, I want to see how much talk there is about one man, Alan Rickman, and to my surprise, there is a lot of talk about him. In fact, he’s the #3 Oscar Buzz topic on the official website. The reason I’m looking into all the talk about Mr. Rickman is because I genuinely have a invested interested in him getting a Oscar nomination this year. Alan Rickman has had an amazing career, yet, has never had one single Oscar Nomination. This year is different though, and the majority of people agree. His performance in The Deathly Hallows Part 2 was both heart breaking and moving. An inspirational performance that will last a lifetime and beyond. He made millions of people cry with a single “always”, and had us all on the edge of our seat as we found out the truth about one of the, if not the, most interesting character in history. I can personally say his performance moved me as a filmmaker. It shaped the way I write, I direct, I shoot. It changed me. I just hope, that this year, the Academy will recognize a powerful performance, and will see him as a serious contendor for the Best Supporting Oscar award this year. I can honestly say, if not, I will be genuinely disappointed. Please feel free to like and reblog this if you agree and share your thoughts about the matter. Thanks for reading.
